Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey with the Microsoft Loop app, now available in public preview! Documents have always been more than just records of information—they are tools for connection and collaboration, allowing us to share thoughts, insights, and aspirations to achieve more together.
As our work environments evolve, we face increasing ambiguity and uncertainty, necessitating fast-paced and dynamic co-creation. We need tools that embrace the creative process’s messiness and adapt to our ever-changing needs.
Enter Microsoft Loop. At its core, Microsoft Loop is about people—people who want to create together effortlessly, regardless of location or tools. It offers a transformative co-creation experience, uniting teams, content, and tasks across various tools and devices. The Loop app brings together the three key parts of Microsoft Loop: components, workspaces, and pages. Watch this video for a quick refresh and to explore the latest innovations!
Now that you’re familiar with Microsoft Loop, let’s dive into the exciting new capabilities that will help you think, plan, and create together like never before.
Organize Everything and Everyone for Your Project
With numerous tools, documents, files, and links, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Microsoft Loop helps you organize everything into a single workspace and even assists in the initial setup. Simply add a workspace title and relevant keywords, and Microsoft Loop will suggest the most pertinent pieces to include. Choose what to add, and your workspace will be organized into easily viewable pages.
Projects evolve quickly, and Microsoft Loop’s flexible workspaces enable you and your team to keep pace. Start new pages effortlessly with templates, and drag and drop pages or content blocks to structure your workspace as needed.
Everything you need is at your fingertips with the insert menu. Type “/” to add labels, live dates, images, emojis, tables, checklists, and more without disrupting your workflow. Or type “@” to choose from suggested files and people based on your writing context. These commands allow you to comment, react, build on ideas, resolve issues, and make decisions swiftly.
When working on dynamic projects, you often need to share information with different groups, some outside your immediate team. Microsoft Loop components let you share just the right parts with the right people. Turn any content on a Loop page into a component, then copy and paste it across M365 apps, including Teams chat, Outlook, Whiteboard, and soon, Word for the web.
Share entire pages as links or live pages, allowing others to respond within their workflow. For example, someone who prefers email can add input to the Loop component or page from their email, with changes updating across all shared locations.
As projects progress, Microsoft Loop helps keep everyone updated and focused on the most critical aspects.
Stay in Sync and On Track with Microsoft Loop
Working with great teammates is rewarding, but fast-moving projects can make staying informed challenging. Microsoft Loop offers features like progress trackers and custom labels to keep your team aligned on dynamic workstreams. Tasks assigned in the Loop app and task list component sync across Microsoft Planner and To Do, ensuring you always have the latest task list. Comments, nudges, reactions, and emojis help you express yourself while collaborating.
Microsoft Loop helps you stay on top of projects and provides the control needed to feel confident and comfortable.
Stay in Control with Notifications from the Loop App
Notifications help manage your time and attention, from desktop to mobile. The Loop app’s notification feed tracks mentions, assigned tasks, and replies, making it easy to jump in and respond.
With Microsoft Loop, you are in control. Security and permission settings for Loop components apply just like in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Easily view who has access to pages or components and where they’ve been shared. Use search in the Loop app to find what you need quickly, with custom filters for Loop components and pages.
Stay in the Loop Across Devices
Whether moving from desk to couch or traveling, the Microsoft Loop mobile app offers flexibility. Access project content from one place on your phone, navigate workspaces and pages with visual icons, capture ideas with photos, and continue building on others’ ideas without waiting to return to your computer. The Microsoft Loop mobile app lets you co-create wherever you are!
Unlock New Possibilities with Copilot in Loop
This is just the beginning for Microsoft Loop. We’re excited to roll out new capabilities to enhance co-creation continually. Recently, we announced Microsoft 365 Copilot—your copilot for work. Copilot combines next-generation AI with your Microsoft 365 apps and data, offering AI-powered suggestions to transform how you create and collaborate. It guides you with prompts like create, brainstorm, blueprint, and describe. Or type a prompt like “help me create a mission statement.”
Copilot in Loop is built for co-creation. As you and your teammates work, you can refine prompts, add language, and edit responses for better results. Share your work as a Loop component in Teams, Outlook, Whiteboard, or Word for the web. Copilot in Loop is currently in private preview.
Copilot also helps summarize essential information quickly. It summarizes Loop page content and linked documents, allowing you to edit summaries and send them as Loop components to keep everyone in sync. Summarization capabilities will begin rolling out in the coming months.
