Gemini Live is growing, with exciting new features rolling out soon. In the coming weeks, you’ll be able to chat with Gemini and have it carry out tasks in your preferred language. Designed as your personal AI assistant — intuitive, conversational, and incredibly helpful — Gemini is now more accessible than ever. We’re expanding Gemini Live to support multiple languages, and it will soon connect with more Google apps in different languages, making it easier to find information and complete tasks across your favorite Google services.
Gemini Live: Now Speaking Your Language
At this year’s Made by Google event, we introduced Gemini Live, enabling natural, free-flowing conversations with Gemini in English. Starting today, and rolling out over the coming weeks, we’re expanding Gemini Live on Android phones to support more than 40 languages. This means more people worldwide can interact with Gemini, collaborate, and experience conversational AI in their native languages.
Gemini Live will even support conversations in two languages on the same device, allowing for seamless multilingual interactions. To set your preferred languages, simply follow these steps:
- Open the Google app on your Android phone or tablet, and tap your profile picture or initial at the top.
- Go to Settings > Google Assistant > Languages.
- Choose a supported language, and optionally add a second supported language.
Your Conversational AI Partner
Gemini Live is truly conversational, like chatting with a friend. You can brainstorm, explore new topics, or even practice a presentation. Gemini keeps pace with your conversation, letting you switch topics or dive deeper at any point. With 10 distinct voices to choose from, you can personalize the tone and style of your interactions.

- Ask for advice: Get personalized guidance on job prospects or career paths suited to your skills or degree.
- Plan an event: Collaborate with Gemini to organize events, like a birthday party for friends or family.

Your Favorite Google Apps, Now Connected with Gemini
Gemini’s Extensions feature has made it easier to get things done with apps you already use, like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. We recently expanded this capability to include more tools, such as Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep, and Utilities, making it faster and simpler to complete tasks across Google’s ecosystem.
Soon, Gemini will also support more languages across these apps, enabling you to perform tasks like:
- Find a recipe: Have Gemini locate a lasagna recipe from Gmail and add the ingredients to your shopping list in Keep.
- Check your availability: Snap a photo of a concert flyer, ask Gemini to check your calendar, and set a reminder to buy tickets.
- Stay on top of events: Ask Gemini when your favorite movie releases, then have it remind you a week before to buy tickets.
